How can internet browsing be better then sex?

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

Heres how: Drop IE, or any other pathetic browswer you may be using.

I have been using Firefox for about a year now and will never go back to IE (other then to just see how sites I have designed look in it) and I wanted to share my top 10 reasons you should switch to Firefox today:

  1. It’s not a Microsoft product. (do I really need anymore after that?)
  2. Load time on pages is faster
  3. The best standards compliance browser
  4. The .01% of the time it may crash (because its most likely on a Windows machine) the new Firefox has a restore feature that opens your last tabs, and you lose nothing. (this alone sold me on the new Firefox 2)
  5. Open source people love it (thus they program the sickest extentions for it - FOR FREE)
  6. Easy extention updates
  7. Perfect for developers and designers
  8. User interface is simple and elegant
  9. Works on all platforms - Windows, Linux, Mac
  10. Find dialog is amazing, and they were one of the first to start offering web 2.0 features. (like SVG support)
  11. Not a microsoft product - (ok that is 11 but it needed to be on the list again)

As a marketing professional I love Firefox for all the cool SEO tools and extentions that are developed for it. I could not live with out and wonder why people are still wasting thier time on any other browser.

If you want to keep using a pathetic browser then don’t click on this link - Get Firefox 2

Website Real Estate

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

Most internet business owners are not taking full advantage of the opportunities for money making their websites offer. I can’t tell you how many sites I see and say to myself…”that site has good PR, great ILQ (Inbound Link Quality) etc., yet they have no money making opportunities on their pages.

For example the homepage may have a PR (page rank) 5 or 6 (sometimes I have seen ones higher) and if they only knew they can sell links on their site through link brokers such as Text Link Ads they could be making thousands more revenue per month.

I know alot of sites do not like to offer text links on their pages because they feel it takes away from the value of their website. I see the point and if done wrong totally agree. But there are ways to get the links on - and not annoy. When you can make the links blend in and look like they are a part of the site by matching colors, text and font size.

Try to avoid having verbage around the links that say “sponsored sites”, or “link partners” doing this can devalue the site page, plus potentially hurt your rankings and standing with Google. To learn more click on the link below:

Vongo

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

I have been waiting for something like this FOREVER. Ok, well maybe not forever, but for sometime now I have been wondering when (for us computer geeks) this was going to be an option. I love it. Here’s the deal. Vongo.com is the online version of blockbuster. You are saying … we already have Netflicks and you can rent movies from Blockbuster etc.. so whats the big deal? Well with Vongo you can download the movies right onto your computer and watch them!

You can start downloading movies for $9.99 and get a free 14 day trial with them as well. I am looking further into this and am hoping its going to be a good thing, and something this company will keep doing right. I’ll keep you all posted!

Thanks to my friend Brandon Buttars for pointing this service out to me!

Instant Media

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

Here’s the site http://im.com/ Instant Media, Internet TV

Instant Media Logo

I have been reading so much lately about this company that I felt I wanted to share a quick blub about them. I first heard about Instant Media from a friend of mine (Brandon Buttars) and he sums up what they do by saying this:

Instant Media is more or less an RSS Reader or Aggregator, but it takes it to the next level. We have normal RSS Feed that just deliver content and we have RSS Feeds that will deliver PodCasts, which is audio that can be downloaded. Well Instant Media takes it to the next level of a VideoCast. We know that video is the next wave of technology. Since internet connections are getting faster and video creation is getting easier it’s a no brainer that sooner or later this would be something that we ran into.

You can subscribe to any type of an RSS Feed with Instant Media and you can also subscribe to different channels and buy movies through Instant Media. It claims that a lot of the videos are delivered in High Definition. Mix that with a Media Center PC or any type of a computer that you could use with your home entertainment and instantly only watch what you want and read only the news you want.

Pod-casting, Blogging and Videos are not going anywhere and this is leading edge technology. Remember what happened almost a year and a half ago with Google Analytics? So many people wanted the software cause its free and they got back-logged with requests, and you got put on a waiting list that I have been told took as long as 4 months to get accepted! I would recommend downloading the software now while its free and not to crowded!

Money With Google

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

I know, I know … You see Yahoo! Publisher Ads on this blog, but I started making money with ad programs by using Google Adsense believe it or not. I still make money with Google Adsense as well, just certain blogs, and websites of mine do better with the Yahoo! Ads. (this one–case and point)

I wanted to share my feelings again about the importance of these kind of programs to anyone interested in making money online. The first ebook I ever wrote, I did so several years ago about making money with Google entitled “Money With Google“. If you have been making money with Google Adsense (or other ad programs) for several years, and are very experienced then the ebook is not for you. That’s not who I wrote it for. (If you make your money from these programs by means of spam and scraper sites then you SHOULD ready it.)

Who I did write the ebook for:

I wrote the ebook for the person that wants to make some serious extra cash with little effort, (this is no get rich quick thing though) and no previous internet business skills. The book was written for the person that has never even heard of money making ad programs such as Google Adsense, or Yahoo! Publisher Ads. When I wrote the ebook, Yahoo! did not have such a program, thats why its entitled: “Money With Google.”

Money With Google

Thus, the reason I blog about this today. I was updating some info for a (very basic) site for my father-in-law (www.vngeezer.com that basically shows off the pictures he has documented of the car restoration projects he has done over the years. (The main reason we developed the site was for his restoration project on his 53 ford f100 … ) I was thinking how easy it is for people to make money online. This simple website generates some decent cash flow for my FIL and he puts ZERO effort into it. Whats the lesson here? Even a mechanic that does not even know what HTML stands for can make money online with the right kind of guideance.

Like I said earlier, this is not a get rich quick thing … keep in mind that as with anything, you do have to put forth some effort to make it happen, (grrr, you mean the internet money fairy will not find me for doing nothing?) but with a little effort you could be making some decent extra money on the side! Contact me at matsiltala (at) gmail (dot) com if you have any questions, or just download the book here if you are interested in learning some of the techniques. Remember the book is basic, and for the beginner, so if you are an expert already (with making money with ad programs) you won’t learn much (other then my story!) I may be biased, but its a pretty good story that has atleast motivated thousands that I have worked with into making money online!

I have set up a personal relationship with a small business ecommerce hosting company to give everyone that has downloaded my Money With Google ebook 3 months of free hosting. So basically there is no risk at all. The ebook only costs $14.95, and you learn all my techniques, and get FREE HOSTING for 3 months! You can beat that! Even after all that, if you feel you were ripped off, and hated everything I said, you get your money back (no questions asked) … see, I wasn’t kidding … it really is risk free! The only thing I ask, is if you did learn something to share with as many people as you can, and send me an email telling me about your success!

What do I do now?

  1. Download the book here
  2. Apply for an ad paying program like Yahoo! Publisher Ads or Google Adsense
  3. Start making money

Yes, it really is that simple! So get going! Do it now …

Tired of losing, or breaking your keychain storage devices?

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Some people may not have a problem with this kind of stuff, but I do. I really do not like to have to carry around a USB storage device, or for that matter make the keys in my pocket any fatter by adding a keychain storage device. Well I found a pretty cool solution. Now these kind of sites are not new, but I have not found one yet that offers what this one does.

What is it?

http://www.thinkfree.com

Its a free online storage place, that gives you a whopping 1 GB of storage space. You can create word, excel and create a ton of different kind of documents with it. You can share them with family, friends, co-workers or whoever you want to give access to. You can add documents to your blogs with ease (works with all the major blog software or sites), or add photos using flickr … Oh and don’t forget you get a GIG of free storage space! (Did I mention that)

No more worrying about forgetting the USB device, or losing it (or in my case destroying it on accident). You have access to all of your documents and important files as long as you have an internet connection. It’s just a good solution I thought might be handy to people who work online all the time (like I do), and go back and forth from computer to computer.

I usually am not the one to promote things unless I think its worth it, but this place is pretty dang cool considering all you get and what it costs you to get it…(free)

The nonsense about AdSense - Great Article

Monday, April 10th, 2006

This is a great article I dugg this morning. I know I have had recent posts as to why I like Yahoo Publisher Ads (I will blog later about how they actually have customer service) better but here is another article in the long line of people angry and upset with Google Adsense. I even came across a site ( I will not mention in this blog cause of the profanity — with a little digging around reddit.com you will find it ) that states Google is infact evil when thier model is to not be.. Don’t take me the wrong way - I am not Google hater, I just think they have some major problems that obviously need to be addressed.

“Benjamin Cohen, the former teenaged dot.com millionaire, has run into a problem as he tries to make his next million: Google won’t pay him for ads run on his website.”
