Go Daddy - Go Away!

I know everyone watched the super bowl right? If you did then you probably saw the Go Daddy commercial. I know they have been on a marketing “sex” kick lately, but its old, overdone and borring and my message is simple - “go away”.

Your marketing is no longer making me want to buy a domain name from you, infact it’s making me want to stay away. The commercial was predictable. I had not seen it before it aired, but as I was watching it I knew exactly what was going to happen. Way to predicatable Go Daddy!

I would love to hear from anyone else who thinks the same as me.

Christer Edwards,

I don’t personally buy my names from GoDaddy and I *never* host with them. I agree that they need to come up with something new there. The first time it was racy and something to stand out, the second time its just a poor copy of the previous effort. Try something new next year guys.

Nate Moller,

Totally agree! I watched an interview with GoDaddy owner, Bob Parsons, and his skanky model friend before the Super Bowl. They were talking about how they thought it was dumb that they couldn’t do some of the “other” commercials they had prepared. The interviewer straight up ask them - what are you trying to promote? They didn’t really have a good answer. I mean come on, a domain name and hosting company that’s trying to promote themselves with sex? Bold strategy…hope it DOESN’T work out for them.

Lewis,

Yeah. Not impressed with the marketing team over there right now. They do still have decent services and they propagate quickly. The commercials haven’t done enough to dissuade me from being a customer, but they are definitely barking up the wrong tree.
