Overture will finally be dead today!
Ok, you may be saying to yourself “Overture has been dead for a while when Yahoo took them over”, and you would be correct, but the platform they used for Pay Per Click, and “highest bid rules” as of 3 PM PST will be a thing of the past with the roll out of their new Yahoo Panama platform.
What does this switch mean for the average user? What does this switch mean for the future of Yahoo? I think its probably one of the biggest (and possibly smartest) moves that Yahoo has made lately, especially with a series of dumb moves.
The biggest difference from what I can understand is no loger will it be “the more you pay the higher you get” (old overture model), it will now include “quality guidelines” in order to acheive highest potential ranking. This could be a great thing for the future of PPC on Yahoo. I am hoping this will eliminate a lot of rather spammy sites that fill up the sponsored search results.
Yahoo still has the advantage of MSN really not getting a ton of traffic as a search engine (in regards to their new “Ad Center”), and this can really help them be a dominate force again (and help them try to compete against Google). Yahoo has been on the downward slide lately in the search engine world, but they still are #2 in sure volume traffic. I am excited for this switch and hopes that Yahoo comes back with a vengance!
Yahoo does hope to increase profits with this move and it will be interesting to see how it plays out over the next few months. I will keep an eye on it, and keep you updated. Also, feel free to ad your two cents!

I think you saw my recent post on Yahoo : too little too late. I think, unless they really blow us away with this new tool it’ll be more of the same.
I’ll take a look at it, but I’m reluctant for Yahoo products at this stage in the game.
Thanks for the link.
