I can’t tell you how many people talk to me and tell me they are an SEO cause they know what a title tag is, or what the meta description or keywords are.  It makes me laugh (and sad) to hear of so called SEO Companies that charge clients thousands of dollars and all they did was change some keywords in these areas.  Even sadder is they will tell the client that using a keyword or phrase in the “alt tag” will make all the difference in the world (and they will keyword stuff it, which is essentially spamming the engines).  I can blog about this cause I have to deal with these kind of slime-ball grease-bag SEO Companies almost on a daily basis. 

“Look I got you a number 1 ranking … yea but did you notice how its a keyword phrase that no one searches for like “SEO fish bait that will sell cars“  Or how about this one, ( I know you have heard of these ones ) Pay us $5000.00 and we will submit your website to 7000 search engines over the next year.  NOTHING good will happen to your website or traffic if you venture down these paths …  Actually thats not true… the later path could get you banned and blacklisted on Google so…you just paid 5 grand to get banned on Google!  Congrats!

Please don’t waste my time telling me that I have a broken link on my website (and that I must not know much about SEO cause that can hurt me) cause it just may turn out its a flash file (that I don’t want to work at this point) that is not crawl-able by the search engines anyway – and that will not hurt me! 

Sorry for the rant, but sometimes I get frustrated with self-proclaimed SEO’s that don’t know a header tag from thier own head. 

Aaron Wall a true SEO Guru tells it best when he says something to the effect of: “let your proof be in your following.”
