The worth of an old domain name
Just wanted to share something I was thinking about today. I did a Google image search of my name and found an image (and time) I’d forgot about.
Heres the picture:
The reason its funny is because it made me think about the root domain of an old site I had built once that has never been taken off the original server I guess. You do a Google for “Mat Siltala” and you will find the website www.eaznet.com/~kat/Staff/staff.html as a #2 result, yet I have optimized my name on so many other sites there should be no reason for that result to come up #2 other then its been around for the last 9 years or so!
If you can get your hands on a domain name that has been around for a while it could help you get rankings faster almost anything else you do! Keep in mind a great place to search for expiring domains can be found here: www.domainsbot.com You can find domain names with good PR and a high amount of IBL … could be worth the extra you pay for it!
